Productions should not only be safe spaces for artists of underrepresented communities such as BIPOC, PWD + LGBTQAI+, but should also foster space in which all artists have an equal opportunity to thrive + create.
In order to provide this space, productions may need additional support.
Language is an important aspect of the work, as one of the first indicators of identity + culture we encounter, + therefore should be a priority in all EDI efforts.
As leaders, we value cultural sensitivity + consciousness in how we go about recruiting + placing people in production, especially as we move toward diversifying the workforce behind the camera.
As we work to create more opportunities for underrepresented communities, we must also actively recruit, train, + mentor BIPOC; BIPOC have historically had much less access + opportunities than their non-BIPOC counterparts within every aspect of the industry.
